how to throttle bandwidth to an application?

How can I limit the amount of bandwidth an application uses in windows xp? I couldn't find this in Zone Alarm. I need to limit the amount of bandwidth an uncooperative application uses but don't want to take away all of it. If I can't do this on an application level, I would even settle for limiting overall speeds used by my machine.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Some software do provide embedded such feature. If not, using windows, it won't be easy imho. Personnal firewall such as ZA do'nt provide such feature (at this time).
Maybe take a look at some socks solutions, but without knowing wich software /protocol it won't be easy to help.

Another way is to suggest you use tc (traffic control) with GNU/linux to provide such accounting.

I found out how to do it. It is a service standard in Windows called "QoS Packet Scheduler"

thanks though,
