I have been continually bumped offline by another user who when entering a chatroom uploads a programme stating it is a virus and that it will bump allin the room offline, ( It is successful ) Can anyone inform me of a website where I can obtain information on protecting myself from this type of programme?
Thankyou

Hi,
What do you mean by bumped offline ? You are disconnected from your application or your chat or your ISP connexion ?
Which kind of chatroom : IRC , AOL , Yahoo ?
Normally refusing all the sent files and installing a good firewall should protect you.

if u mean bumped off the server and not the internet then there is nothing you can do
the packets you are talking about use zombie hits to flood the server running the chatroom and forces it to either (a) kick everyone or (b) shut down , thereby removing all people from the chat room
this is not a file and does not connect to your computer, it only affects the link that the chat server has with your computer on the server side, so a firewall would not work.
However, if it bumps you off the net, then a firewall would work
