What does this do ??? it is the only port that I've scanned on my girlfriends machine that is listening.. the rest are close (thanks to LooknStop) but I can't seem to get this one to close ?
Her provider is giving her a hard time after she was hacked (of which they don't care) and stating that if they see ANY listening ports her account will be revoked ???
Is there any way to lock down this final port ??? what have I missed ... I set up a rule that deny'd all TCP connections to that port period.. but it didn't seem to make any difference ??
Can anyone shed some light on this subject.. and if it needs to be open.. some reputable docuementation that I can take to her provider and show them. ??
Thanks in Advance for any help you can give

If you have a router in the picture depending on what kind it is that is your best bet. I was never able to get a hard answer to my question. I have since put in a Netgear RT314 router and it seems to have solved the problem. It is very interesting that you seemt to have the same problem in win98 that I had in 2000.
As I say short of reccomending that you use your router
to refuse these ports OR route those three ports to a NON-existant IP internally (i.e. people who might try to connect will hit blank air if there is no machine there) That's about all I can suggest. Software doesn't seem to be able to help us with this problem.
Hope that helps in some way.

Port 1025 is the first of the "unprivileged" ports above 1024 - well at least it would be if windows had any sense of this at all.
It is dynamically assigned to the first program that requests it as the OS is starting up.
It could be grabbed by the directory replicator or active directory, ms exchange, any program at all. |

I too have port1025 open, it references something called blackjack. I discover this to be an online game! Would love to know how this got on my machine? |
